The Hillsdale County Fair has evolved over 175 years, but remains “The Most Popular Fair on Earth.”
Sabine Young, the event’s newest manager, is busily coordinating this year’s efforts, culminating in Fair Week 2025: Sept. 21-27.
“This has been a whole different world for me, coming from banking and insurance,” Young said. “However challenging it may be, I’m really enjoying it. The fair has such a huge history, and is a huge part of my family’s life. I am honored to be in this position.”
As always, Fiske French Fries is expected to draw crowds and the Skerbeck Family Carnival will fill the Midway — but there are changes coming in 2025. Here’s a list of what to expect:
NTPA Tractor Pulls moved to Sunday
The National Tractor Pulling Association approached organizers about kicking off the fair’s grandstand events in 2025, holding their annual pulls Sep. 21 instead of their usual late-week slot. In the event’s place, Nashville recording artist Tyler Farr will take the stage Sept. 26.
4H steps away from kitchen operations
The 4H Kitchen, located near the large animal barn, has served up homestyle comfort food for years — but the organization opted not to run the kitchen in 2025.
Fortunately, organizers secured Reading’s Lone Ranger Café to carry on the tradition.
Southern fairgrounds will see more traffic
Fair organizers are working to revamp the south end of the fairgrounds to encourage more traffic, including daily free shows from Championship International Wrestling, as well as food vendors and businesses.
More free entertainment in 2025
Organizers have lined up other free entertainment for 2025, including a variety of bands making their fair debut at Nichol’s Bandshell, dueling pianos, and traditional blacksmithing.
