Detroit — For a change, the news on the Tigers’ twice-weekly medical update was mostly encouraging.
Justin Verlander (hip inflammation) is scheduled to throw a bullpen before the game Wednesday as he works toward an eventual rehab start or possibly a simulated game.
Zach McKinstry (left hip and abdominal inflammation) was sent to the Tigers’ facilities in Lakeland. He is doing both rehab as well as some light baseball activity.
Pitchers Troy Melton (elbow) and Beau Brieske (adductor) are throwing bullpens. Melton threw his latest on Monday and Brieske was scheduled to throw Tuesday.
Center fielder Parker Meadows (left radius fracture) is also doing daily rehab in Lakeland.
