May is a rush of athletic events in Michigan. And the final weeks bring stacked postseason events one after another, year after year.
Track regionals feel like 10 years ago, when in fact they were just a little over two weeks ago.
With all that’s happened in the time since regionals, a refresher on who is even competing at the MHSAA state finals this Saturday, May 31 might be helpful.
Below you’ll find the competitors by division, their qualifying mark from regionals or a pre-qualifying event, along with the seed for some of the top athletes.
Some athletes from the area will head into their respective division state championship meet with a top 10 seed in their event.
Petoskey’s 4×100 group will hold the No. 1 seed in Divison 2, Charlevoix’s Hunter Eaton holds the No. 1 seed in the 3,200, No. 2 seed in the 1,600 and, just for good measure, the No. 6 seed within the 800 in Division 3.
On Friday, many athletes from the area received a sendoff on their way to the state finals, including Harbor Springs athletes, who did a walkthrough at Shay Elementary School in Harbor Springs.
The Division 2 state finals will take place at Hamilton High School, Division 3 athletes will head to Kent City and Hudsonville will host the Division 4 meet.
