Mid-Michigan and portions of southeast Michigan have a slight risk for severe weather, according to the National Weather Service.

Scattered strong-to-severe thunderstorms are possible Sunday through evening along and north of Interstate 69 in Michigan, the National Weather Service’s White Lake Township office said in Severe Weather Outlook. Isolated strong–to-severe thunderstorms are possible between Interstate 94 and I-69.

The office issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for St. Clair, Livingston, Oakland, Macomb, Washtenaw, Wayne, Lenawee and Monroe counties. It said the severe weather risk will mainly be confined to northern Detroit suburbs into Port Huron.

The weather service said severe hazards are possible. “The strongest storms are capable of producing 40-60 mph damaging winds, hail up to 1 inch and a tornado,” the White Lake office said.

There is a slight risk for severe thunderstorms Monday and Tuesday in southeast Michigan. The National Weather Service’s Grand Rapids office said thunderstorms will be possible at times on Monday.

In Upper Michigan, the National Weather Service’s Marquette office said early Sunday there is a marginal risk for severe thunderstorms late Sunday afternoon into the night in the Upper Peninsula. There is a slight risk for severe thunderstorms in the Upper Peninsula on Monday as well.

The National Weather Service’s Gaylord office said rounds of showers and storms are expected early Monday through Monday night in northern Michigan. Severe storms are possible Monday and Tuesday, according to the Gaylord office.
