Summer’s “orange barrel” season is moving full speed ahead, even if that means traffic, temporarily, won’t be.
The Michigan Department of Transportation says a number of new constructions projects are set to begin this week across the state — some that will take weeks or months to complete and others that will tie up traffic for just hours or days.
“By the end of this construction season, we will have fixed, repaired or replaced nearly 24,500 lane miles of roads and 1,900 bridges, supporting thousands of good-paying, local jobs without raising taxes by a dime,” Gov. Gretchen Whitmer said in a press release earlier this year.
