Owners of a longstanding east side steakhouse have addressed rumors that it is closing or selling to new owners who would change the concept.
Mr. Paul’s Chop House in Roseville “will continue,” after the restaurant changes hands.
The current owners — Paul, Chris and Peter Gogo — are retiring, but they assured guests in a statement posted to social media Thursday that “our menu and our famous Caesar salad will stay the same along with our staff.”
“After 57 years of ownership and serving this amazing community, the owners of Mr. Paul’s Chophouse are preparing for a well-earned retirement,” reads a statement posted to social media that thanks longtime customers for their support.
“As we begin this next chapter, one thing remained the most important throughout the decision: ensuring that the traditions, reputation and family atmosphere of our beloved restaurant — which so many have come to love — continue for years to come.”
Along with the popular Caesar salad, Mr. Paul’s is also known for classic steakhouse fare like sauteed perch, frog legs, chicken piccata, steaks and chops, including a chateaubriand for two served tableside.
The owners say Mr. Paul’s Chop House will continue under the leadership of new owners who have more than 20 years of experience in the industry.
“Their passion for exceptional service, attention to detail and commitment to preserving the traditions that make Mr. Paul’s so special make this retirement decision much easier,” they said.
The Detroit News has reached out to ownership for additional information. When reached by phone earlier this week, an employee had no comment.
Mr. Paul’s Chophouse, 29850 Groesbeck in Roseville, is open 11 a.m.-10 p.m. weekdays, 4-10 p.m. Saturdays and closed Sundays.
