City of Monroe Public Safety responded to a rollover injury crash at the intersection of North Monroe and East Lorain streets about 2:35 p.m. Monday, March 9, according to a post on the department’s Facebook page.
Upon arrival, officers located a gray Ford Edge that had been traveling eastbound on East Lorain Street. The vehicle had stopped at the stop sign at North Monroe Street.
According to the driver, severe fog limited visibility and they did not see any oncoming traffic.
As the Ford Edge entered the intersection, a red Toyota Camry traveling northbound on North Monroe Street hit the Ford Edge causing it to rollover and stop on its roof. Both drivers were treated at the scene for minor injuries. Later, the driver of the Ford Edge was transported to a hospital for further evaluation.
The investigation determined the driver of the Ford Edge was at fault and issued a citation.
The Monroe Public Safety Department reminds drivers to slow down and use extra caution during inclement weather and when visibility is reduced.
