Michigan State football received a massive boost to their defensive line on Monday when a key player announced his intent to return to Michigan State in 2026.
Ben Roberts took to X to announce he is spending his last year of eligibility in East Lansing.
A native of Lakewood, Washington, he started his career at Oregon, with which he spent two years before transferring to Michigan State. He has been a Spartan for the last two seasons. He has 24 tackles, 2 tackles for loss and a sack in his career.
Roberts is known as an elite gap stuffer in the run game and was an integral part to the Spartans stopping the run. Per PFF, he graded as a 73.3 run game defender, which falls into the very good category.
Roberts’ season was cut short by a season-ending injury in the Michigan game in late October. He also missed the UCLA game earlier in the season. In his senior year, he is looking for good health and continued impact.
The Spartans need as much talent on the defensive line as they can get, and Roberts provides the type of talent that is needed.
