Michigan football trending for three top 2027 recruits

Michigan football is just starting to get 2027 recruiting truly going after an early burst at the beginning of spring, when two safeties, an interior offensive lineman, and quarterback Kamden Lopati all pledged to the maize and blue. Yet, the true period when the Wolverines should see the most movement is fast approaching with official visits starting at the end of next month.

But now there’s starting to be intel that suggests that Michigan leads for a handful of prospects. From Monday evening into Tuesday, there have been three players who have received multiple predictions that they’ll end up wearing a winged helmet.

Here is who Michigan is currently trending for.

2027 Jackson (Miss.) Brandon four-star RB Tyson Robinson

Michigan hasn’t usually managed to do well down in the state of Mississippi, having only gotten safety Jeremy LeSueur in program history. But last recruiting cycle, the Wolverines got linebacker Kaden Catchings, setting the stage for yet another, potentially.

Rivals’ Steve Wiltfong and Maize & Blue Review’s Josh Henschke both predicted that Robinson will end up in Ann Arbor on Monday, indicating that his recruitment is truly winding down. He’s planning on announcing his commitment on May 16.

He’s rated highest by ESPN as the No. 116 player in the country, and is a consensus four-star across the recruiting services.

2027 Grand Rapids (Mich.) Kenowa Hills three-star ATH Lundon Hampton

Previously predicted to rival Michigan State during the 2025 season, the Wolverines are apparently in good shape for the in-state product. Expected to also play running back, Hampton is the No. 920 player in the country and 18th in the state of Michigan per the Rivals Industry Ranking.

He’s been predicted by Rivals’ Allen Trieu and The Wolverine’s Ethan McDowell.

2027 Kalamazoo (Mich.) Loy Norrix

The highest rated of the three, four-star offensive tackle Jakari Lipsey, is most highly rated by 247Sports, which has him as the No. 66 prospect in the country, and the second-best player in the state of Michigan. Also predicted by Trieu and McDowell, Lipsey would give the Wolverines a solid tackle to go along with some of the interior prospects already committed in Louis Esposito and Sidney Rouleau. Here is the scouting report from Trieu:

Three-sport athlete who excels as a thrower in track and field and is a good high school basketball player. Can get up and dunk at his size. Has played both ways in high school and was looked at as a defensive lineman some early on. Still very raw in his technique. Needs to be more consistent play to play as well. Offer possibilities at guard and tackle, and has huge upside but needs diligence and development in order to reach that high ceiling.

He’s visited Ann Arbor three times, and LSU, Wisconsin, and Minnesota have also been working hard after him.
