Girls wrestling has been an MHSAA sport since 2022 and has grown to the point that the Livingston Daily has put together its first all-county team for the sport.
That was evident right from the start of the season when Fowlerville and Howell fielded large enough teams to stage the county’s first girls wrestling dual. There are now enough quality girls wrestlers to put together a representative 14-member team that doesn’t feel like a participation trophy.
All 14 wrestlers at least qualified for regionals and none had a losing record. Six of them made the all-state podium at Ford Field.
Here is the first all-Livingston County girls wrestling team:
Ava Adkins
Howell, sophomore
► Accomplishments: Adkins qualified for regionals by placing fourth at districts at 110 pounds. She placed third in the KLAA at 110-115. She had a 21-21 record.

► Accomplishments: Buurma is a three-time state qualifier who won districts, took third at regionals and was second in the CAAC meet at 130. She was 38-9 this season and is 103-27 for her career.
