HARBOR SPRINGS — Nick Lemieur’s earned run average line on the mound this season for Harbor Springs feels like an error.
The season for the Harbor junior is well known to opponents at this point, but it’s not making things easier in the batter’s box.
The lanky lefty continued to mow down opponents this week, while picking up his fifth shutout performance to keep a blank ERA on the season in a 3-0 win over Elk Rapids.
Lemieur went a full six innings, gave up just two hits and two walks and struck out four in the game-one win, before the Rams earned a 5-3 victory in the nightcap.
Along with the .000 ERA for the year in 26 innings, Lemieur has struck out 37 batters now and allowed just five walks for the season, with just a .129 average against.
While he’s led the charge on the mound, Harbor’s success this season has come as a total team effort, bringing them to a 15-1 start and now 7-1 start within the Northern Shores Conference.
Caiden Phillips, leading the Rams at the plate this season with an average north of .500, went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs in the opener against the Elks. Lemieur also went 2-for-3 with a steal.
In game two, the Rams used a collection of Ryan Novak, Phillips and Ben McShannock to earn the win, with the three combining for five strikeouts and two hits allowed, though seven walks.
McShannock went 2-for-3 with an RBI, JJ Spencer collected an RBI single and Lemieur added an RBI.
The Rams travel down to East Jordan Friday, before a big NSC week ahead, with a visit from Kalkaska Monday, May 11, then trip to Boyne City on Thursday, May 14.
