Ryan Magdic has been honored by the Midwest League after helping the Lansing Lugnuts win four of five in their series against the Cedar Rapids Kernels from June 8-13.
Magdic, a left-handed pitcher, was named the league’s pitcher of the week after striking out nine and allowing three hits and one run over seven innings in the Lugnuts’ 8-4 win on Friday, June 12.
Magdic, who was promoted by the Athletics to Double-A Midland on Tuesday, June 16, had a 2-2 record with a 3.22 earned run average this season in 15 appearances and five starts for the Lugnuts. He has struck out 40 and walked just five in 36 1/3 innings.
Magdic is the second Lugnuts player to earn a Midwest League weekly award this season. He joins Davis Diaz, who earned weekly honors in April.
Lansing owns a 29-33 record following its series win over Cedar Rapids and returns to play Tuesday, June 16, when it begins a six-game road series against the West Michigan Whitecaps.
