Hillsdale has waited decades for “The Colonel” to return to town, and it seems he’s finally coming in October.
KFC’s new location in Hillsdale is tentatively scheduled to open Oct. 21 on Carleton Road. The area has seen a boost in activity in recent years with the addition of ALDI, Meijer, Dairy Queen and Cooper’s.
The store will be located between Big Country’s and Hawkins Motor Sales near the intersection at Industrial Drive.
“Right now, we’re seeing a lot of positive momentum … on the north side of town,” said Assistant City Manager Sam Fry. “We’re seeing a lot of companies excited about investing in Hillsdale. This is something that’s going to help grow the city’s tax base to ensure critical services like police and fire thrive.”
KFC previously operated a franchise at 188 W. Carleton Road, but the store closed in the 1990s when the property was sold for the development of Walgreens at the intersection of M-99 and Fayette Street.
