MASON – Ingham County officials said a software problem was behind emails sent to residents notifying them their license for their dog was expired.
Ingham County Animal Control and Shelter officials posted an explanation and apology on its Facebook page on the evening of Friday, June 26.
Officials did not say how many erroneous notices were sent.
Here’s the complete post:
“We are aware that some residents mistakenly received an email stating that their dog license has expired.
“If you received one of these emails but your dog license is not due to expire, please know that this was sent in error due to a software glitch. Your current dog license remains valid.
“If you would like to verify the status of your dog license, please contact the Ingham County Treasurer’s Office at 517-676-7242 or visit their website: https://tr.ingham.org/departments_and_officials/treasurer/
“We apologize for any confusion or frustration this may have caused, and we appreciate your patience while this issue is being addressed.”
