LANSING — Freeze warnings are in place across lower Michigan, including the Lansing area, for the early hours of Saturday, May 2.

The warning covering Lansing will be in effect from midnight until 9 a.m. Temperatures are expected to fall below freezing, threatening sensitive plants. Potted plants should be brought indoors, while other tender plants should be covered, forecasters said.

The detailed forecast for Lansing calls for lows of around 31 degrees overnight, bringing widespread frost, but some areas could see temperatures fall to as low as 25 degrees, the National Weather Service said.

The chilly air is likely to stick around through the weekend, with highs in the low 50s on Saturday and high 50s on Sunday, the weather service said. It should get up to around 70 degrees on Monday, May 4, but highs over the next several days after that probably will be in the 50s.
