Officials said in a statement that the flight’s first officer briefly lost consciousness during its approach to the Detroit airport. They said the plane’s captain safely landed the aircraft.

Medics met the plane at the gate after landing, according to the company. It also said the first officer regained consciousness and was taken to a hospital for evaluation.

“Safety comes before all else at Delta,” the airline said in a statement. “We commend the professionalism of the Endeavor Air crew and thank the first responders for their assistance.”
