The Michigan State Police Emergency Management and Homeland Security Division (MSP/EMHSD) announced on Friday, July 10 that several Disaster Recovery Centers have opened to help residents apply for assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
The centers are part of the approval obtained by President Donald Trump for a major disaster declaration for communities across the state impacted by severe weather in April.
“Communities across Michigan are still rebuilding from devastating storms, tornadoes and flooding this spring,” said Gov. Gretchen Whitmer in the July 10 announcement. “That’s why we’re making it easier for eligible residents to access FEMA assistance close to home. Michigan Disaster Recovery Centers will bring critical recovery resources directly into impacted communities, helping families navigate the recovery process and become more resilient to future disasters. We’ll keep working alongside our local, state and federal partners to ensure every community has the support it needs to recover and move forward.”
Specialists from FEMA and the Small Business Administration (SBA) will be on site at eight Michigan Disaster Recovery Centers. There will be additional pop-up sites and mobile centers, which are listed at michigan.gov/msp/divisions/emhsd/2026-statewide-flooding.
