Detroit Tigers fans are already familiar with the Old English D. But what about an even older English D?
That’s the idea behind the celebration of the National Baseball Hall of Fame’s induction weekend, where MLB teams will be wearing retro caps from Friday, July 25 through Sunday, July 27.
The Tigers will be wearing a cap with a version of the logo first worn in 1947, and then consistently worn between 1958-60, according to Chris Creamer of SportsLogos.net.

So, how different are the throwback caps from the regular ones? You decide:
Some teams like the Boston Red Sox and Chicago Cubs will see virtually no change from the caps they are used to wearing, while others like the Miami Marlins and Tampa Bay Rays are getting a massive weekend overhaul. The Tigers’ cap lands somewhere in the middle — essentially the same, but with slight font adjustments to the logo from a previous design.
The hats, designed by New Era, are on sale at MLBShop.com.
