Michigan State big man Jaxon Kohler gets workout with NBA team

If you lose one notable Michigan State big man, the logical move would be to replace them with another, right? That might be what the Memphis Grizzlies are thinking, as the team recently hosted Jaxon Kohler for a private workout, according to some reporting from our friends over at HoopsHype.

The Grizzlies have had a propensity for adding Spartan big men over the years, drafting both Jaren Jackson Jr. and Xavier Tillman, and, of course, being the long-time home of NBA legend and former Spartan Zach Randolph. Memphis traded Jackson Jr. away in a blockbuster trade last season, so they could be looking at replacing his roster spot with another Spartan.

Kohler hasn’t had a lot of buzz as a potential draft candidate, but I think it’s likely that a team like Memphis could add him as a two-way player who travels between the NBA squad and the G-League. Kohler’s teammate, Jeremy Fears Jr., has been getting a lot of hype during the draft process, but most executives still think he will head back to college next year.
