Lions select Michigan EDGE Derrick Moore at pick No. 44
Brad Holmes and the Detroit Lions couldn’t wait any longer.
With a run on EDGE stars at the beginning of the second round, the Lions leapt up the board, dealing pick No. 50 and one of its two fourth-round picks (No. 128 overall) to the New York Jets to jump up six spots and land Michigan EDGE Derrick Moore.
The expectation was that the Lions wanted to find a running mate for two-time Pro Bowler Aidan Hutchinson in this draft. Now, Detroit has a pair of Wolverines on its defensive edges.
Moore, a 6-foot-3, 255-pound EDGE had 10 sacks at Michigan last season. The Baltimore, Md., native had 10.5 tackles for loss, 30 total tackles, three pass breakups, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery last season.
