Coreontae DeBerry's Tulip City Tip Off brings basketball showcase back to Holland

The Tulip City Tip Off is returning to Holland.

Formerly the Return 2 the Dome, the basketball showcase, organized by former Holland High School star Coreontae DeBerry will take place July 27 at the Holland Civic Center.

The showcase begins at 3 p.m. with a Tulip City Red vs. White Pro-Am game with college and professional players. Doors open at 2 p.m.

That will be followed by an alumni game between the Holland and West Ottawa women at 5:30 p.m., then a men’s alumni game at 7 p.m. between Holland and West Ottawa.

DeBerry started the Tulip City Tip Off as a way to raise money for the local athletic departments. The money raised will go to Holland and West Ottawa athletic departments.

Tulip City’s team will feature DeBerry, who played for the University of Cincinnati, then in the NBA G League and in several international leagues.

His team will feature former local stars like Jake Van Tubbergen, Demetrius Lake, Clayton Dykhouse, Kevin Ludwig, Kyle Steigenga, Jalen Overway, Dante Hawkins, Spencer Gugino, Kyle Downing and Derrick Watkins.

The Tulip City Red pro-am team will feature Doug Anderson, Delaney Blaylock, Porter Maberry, James Beck, Markeese Hastings, Christian Rodriguez, Malik Clincy, Demarkus Stuckey, Marcus Heard, Arsenio Arrington and Markese Mayfield.

The Holland women will be led by Alison Scudder, Sophie VanDyke, Angel Murphy, Bethany Carlson, Lora Akridge, Rita Matthews, Ashley Silva, Alexis Smith, Aaliyah Smith and Angel Smith.

The West Ottawa women’s team will include Chelsea Overbeek, Brooke Pedersen, Natalie Dunn, Taylor Trammell, Marica Price, Alyssa Karner, Ella VanWieren, Grace Gerrits, Grace Pedersen and Avery VanDellen.

The Holland men’s alumni will feature DeBerry, Lake, Hawkins, Downing, Taylor DeRoo, Jackson VanHekken, Eli DeRoo, Omari Peak, Arthur Powell, Ron Ferguson and Ray Carter.

The West Ottawa men will feature Van Tubbgergen, Ludwig, Jorddan Myrick, VJ Rodriguez, Jackson Wiegerink, Nolan Eccker, Brady Bosma, Colin Shriver, Shawn Trammell, Marquise Hatter and Tre Boeve.
