Claressa Shields to fight middleweight champion Kaye Scott on Aug. 15

The GWOAT is coming back to the ring.

As announced by Salita Promotions, undisputed women’s heavyweight champion Claressa Shields (18-0, 3 KOs) will fight unified WBA and WBC middleweight champion Kaye Scott (5-1-1) on Saturday, Aug. 15, at State Farm Arena in Atlanta. Shields will move down to the middleweight division in order to face off against the Australian.

Shields most recently fought in a heavyweight rematch against Franchon Crews-Dezurn, outlasting her opponent in 10 rounds on Feb. 22 at Little Caesars Arena. Shields previously stated after that fight that she would like to match up against Shadasia Green in 2026, but will be returning to the middleweight division, instead.

“At this point in my career, every fight is about legacy,” said Claressa Shields in a statement. “Every fight now is about pushing the boundaries of what’s possible – for myself, for women’s boxing, and for the next generation coming behind me through Claressa Shields Promotions.”

Shields signed an $8 million multi-fight deal with Salita and Wynn Records in November, making her the biggest ticket in women’s boxing. And as the only boxer to ever hold unanimous titles in three weight classes, Shields will look to re-establish her dominance as a middleweight, where she was named the undisputed women’s champion twice between 2019 and 2024.

This is a breaking story and will be updated.
