Cheboygan's Cloee Rupp makes NSC first team for second straight year

CHEBOYGAN – As a sophomore, Cloee Rupp played so well that she earned a spot on the all-Northern Shores Conference girls basketball first team.

This year, the Cheboygan junior guard’s impressive consistency allowed her to earn Northern Lakes first team honors for a second consecutive campaign.

Night in and night out, Rupp led the Chiefs in scoring while also playing a key role as a solid defender, a strong rebounder, and getting her teammates involved with her passing.

While Rupp was the only Cheboygan player to make the first team, two other Chiefs, senior guard Olivia Patrick and sophomore center Diem Schley, secured themselves second team accolades, while senior point guard Addison Ptasnik was recognized as an honorable mention.

At Cheboygan’s end-of-season banquet on Monday, March 23, Ptasnik earned the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan Team First award. BCAM’s outstanding student-athlete award went to all five Cheboygan seniors – Olivia Patrick, Addison Ptasnik, Jaelyn Wheelock, Caleigh Easter and Bea Schulz – who all recorded a grade point average of 3.8 or higher.

Other awards handed out at the banquet included offensive MVP (Cloee Rupp), defensive co-MVP (Olivia Patrick and Diem Schley), most improved (Estella Redding), and coaches award (Jaelyn Wheelock).
