Brighton Area Schools has announced five leadership changes ahead of the 2026-27 school year, including two assistant superintendent roles, a directorship, a grade-level principal and a building principal.
Josh Satterfield has been named assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction. Marc McKay has been named assistant superintendent for finance. Allan LaVigne is now a grade-level principal at Scranton Middle School. Carly Evans is the new director of The Bridge Alternative High School.
In addition, Bill Renner will become principal at Hawkins Elementary — after previously serving as a grade-level principal at Scranton.
“These administrators were selected from a very talented, passionate and experienced candidate pool,” wrote Jacob Anastasoff, assistant superintendent of human resources for BAS. “Moving forward, we are confident that these newly hired administrators will serve our students, staff and community well.”
Satterfield replaces the recently retired Elizabeth Mosher. He currently serves as assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction at Woodhaven-Brownstown, where he previously worked as a curriculum director, technology director and elementary teacher. He’ll begin in Brighton on July 20.
McKay replaces Dave Jones, who’s retiring at the end of summer. McKay currently serves as assistant superintendent for finance at Fowlerville Community Schools and previously worked as an accountant for Howell Public Schools. He’ll join BAS on Aug. 17.
LaVigne, an area resident and parent, comes to BAS from Birmingham Public Schools — where he served as a middle school assistant principal and athletic director. He previously worked as a social studies teacher in Birmingham and Plymouth.
Evans has been an English teacher at The Bridge since 2013, and has served as the school’s online coordinator since 2019. She’s also assisted with summer school, been an athletic coach, and is a 2006 graduate of Brighton High School.
Renner has spent decades in Brighton, including time as an elementary teacher and principal at Spencer Elementary.
“I want to thank all of the parents, staff, students and board members who were part of the hiring process for these new team members over the past several months,” wrote Superintendent Matt Outlaw. “While big shoes have been left to fill by our retiring staff, I am thrilled to be adding such professional and personal quality to our administrative team.”
