Longhorns fans held their collective breaths after it was reported Texas football offensive tackle Trevor Goosby injured his knee in a non-contact drill during fall practice. The good news is the injury is a bone bruise, not a ligament tear or anything worse. So when will he return? A date with the No. 1 team in America is the goal.
When Goosby left practice on Monday with an injury to his left knee, the worst was feared. But an MRI on Tuesday revealed that Longhorns offensive tackle has just a bone bruise. While it isn’t catastrophic, The 6-foot-7, 325-pound lineman will still miss some time.
The Texas coaching and medical staff are hoping Goosby is ready by Sept. 12. That’s when the No. 1 Ohio State Buckeyes visit Darrell K Royal–Texas Memorial Stadium to take on No. 4 Texas. If Goosby can’t play in that game, the chances of a UT win decrease significantly.
The Melissa, Texas is arguably UT’s most important player. Primarily because he protect’s Arch Manning and anchors an offensive line that still has a lot of questions after a subpar 2025. Goosby is also projected as the No. 6 overall pick in the 2027 NFL Draft.
