Defensive lineman Justin Eboigbe, who has had a strong summer, was dominant on Day 8 of Chargers training camp.
During the team’s second practice in full pads, Eboigbe dominated 1-on-1 drills, securing a pair of wins. He capped off his standout performance with a couple of pressures and a pass breakup at the line of scrimmage during full-team 11-on-11 sessions, in addition to a play on special teams.
Defensive coordinator Chris O’Leary heaped praise on Eboigbe after practice.
“He’s in, at, or near the top,” O’Leary said regarding Eboigbe’s spot in the positional room. “Another guy, I feel like I repeat myself sometimes just because we have a lot of great guys, but he’s a dude that is going to be the best version of him every day.
“He’s going to max out. No matter what that ceiling is for him, he’s going to try and reach it,” O’Leary added. “He’s been incredibly impressive, he gives us pass rush ability inside. I’m excited to see him this year.”
Following a highly productive sophomore season where he racked up six sacks and seven tackles for loss, Eboigbe is poised for a huge Year 3. The Chargers lost Da’Shawn Hand and Otito Ogbonnia in free agency, so he is expected to help fill those snaps and take on a larger share of third-down/pass-rush duties.
If he builds on his breakout in 2025, Eboigbe could cement himself as a long-term foundational pillar on the defensive front and very well turn it into a big payday.
