The Jacksonville Jaguars filled their final open roster spot on Aug. 5 by signing veteran center Sam Mustipher.
Mustipher, 29, takes the spot vacated by center Tyrstan Colon, who retired before practice on Aug. 4. Mustipher could be on the practice field when the Jaguars return from their day off on August 6.
Colon was the Jaguars’ third-team center behind Robert Hainsey and Jonah Monheim.
Originally an undrafted free agent with the Chicago Bears in 2019, Mustipher has played seven seasons with the Bears (four), Baltimore Ravens (one), Los Angeles Chargers (one) and Denver Broncos (one). He has appeared in 65 games with 43 starts. He started 40 of his first 43 NFL games at center for the Bears.
Mustipher appeared in one regular-season game and two playoff games last year for Denver. He has one career playoff start (for Chicago in its wild-card loss to New Orleans in 2020).
Mustipher played at Notre Dame and started 38 of his 47 career games.
