LAFAYETTE, IN — Tippecanoe County sheriff’s detectives continue to track down leads in Tuesday morning’s home invasion and assault on Chilton Drive in the Benjamin Crossing addition east of Concord Road on Lafayette’s south side.
Investigators believe the assault was a targeted incident, so they do not believe the public is in danger, sheriff’s Capt. Rob Hainje said Wednesday morning.
No arrests have been made in the assault, and detectives continue to investigate, Hainje said.
About 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, a 23-year-old woman living in the home on Chilton Drive called 911 saying she’d been attacked by a man who entered her house, according to previously released information about the assault.
Deputies arrived, checked the house for possible intruders. The woman was taken to a local hospital.
The woman did not see any weapons and did not know how the man entered the house, according to the sheriff’s spokesman. There were no signs of forced entry.
Deputies briefly detained a man Tuesday, but he was released after questioning, according to the sheriff’s department.
