OSHKOSH – Working smoke detectors alerted residents to a house fire late July 13 on Oxford Avenue, allowing them to escape safely before firefighters extinguished the blaze, according to the Oshkosh Fire Department.
Firefighters responded to a reported structure fire at 208 Oxford Ave. at 11:17 p.m. July 13.
The first firefighters to arrive found smoke in the attic. Crews began fire suppression operations and put out the fire in about 30 minutes.
The home’s occupants were alerted by working smoke detectors and evacuated safely. No residents or firefighters were injured.
Fire caused about $50,000 in damage, officials say
The structure sustained significant fire, smoke and water damage estimated at $50,000, fire officials said. The residents were displaced.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
