A 47-year-old pedestrian died late Tuesday, July 7, after being struck by a car on Milwaukee’s southwest side, police said.
The hit-and-run crash happened around 10:30 p.m. on the 2200 block of West National Avenue. The car struck the victim as they were crossing the street, Milwaukee police said.
The driver did not stop or return to the scene, police said. The crash occurred just south of the Mitchell Park Domes.
The victim suffered life-threatening injuries in the crash and died on scene. Police did not identify the victim and no additional information about them was immediately available.
Police are working to identify a vehicle and suspect in the crash.

At least 16 people have died in traffic crashes so far this year, according to the most recent police data available. That figure does not include at least two fatal crashes, including the hit-and-run, that occurred Tuesday.
