Has Coco Gauff won Wimbledon? Not yet, but she's already made history

Seven years and a week ago, Coco Gauff arrived on the big stage as a teenager from South Florida. Already the youngest to make it into the main draw at Wimbledon since the Open era began in 1968, the 15-year-old went on to take down one of the game’s greatest player and one of her role models, then-39-year-old Venus Williams.

Gauff won that match in straight sets, then went on to beat Magdalena Rybarikova, who’d reached the semifinals there just two years prior. The Delray Beach native would go all the way to the Round of 16, putting her in the limelight with future deep runs at the All England Club sure to follow.

But that was the farthest Gauff would get at the sport’s most prestigious event — until now. At 22 and a two-time grand slam champion, Gauff finally broke through with a deep run at Wimbledon. Her quarterfinal win July 7 against good friend Jessica Pegula saw her through to the semifinals for the first time. And thanks to Naomi Osaka’s overpowering win over No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka, rising star Alexandra Eala’s upset over defending champion Iga Swiatek and 2022 winner Elena Rybakina’s shocking defeat, Gauff finds herself the highest-ranked player remaining in the field.

World No. 7 Gauff will take on 10th-seeded Karolina Muchova with a place in Saturday’s final on the line. She will already see her WTA ranking rise to No. 4; winning her third grand slam would vault her past Pegula into third ahead of August’s U.S. Open, the site of her first major victory. Here’s what to know about Gauff ahead of her next big match.

Has Coco Gauff won Wimbledon?

Coco Gauff has two major titles in her pocket, but she’s historically struggled on the grass courts of the All England Club. In her previous six trips, Gauff had not advanced past the Round of 16, even after winning the U.S. Open in 2023 and the French Open in 2025. In fact, less than a month after winning her second grand slam title last year at Roland Garros, she was bounced from Wimbledon in the first round, the second time in three years she failed to win a match there.

Gauff nearly slipped up again this year in her second-round match against Solana Sierra, falling behind 3-5 in the final set before rallying to force a tiebreak and closing with six straight points to move on. She dropped the first set to Belinda Bencic in the fourth round before storming back to win the match just in time for curfew. In her first ever Wimbledon quarterfinal, Gauff again fell behind against fellow American Jessica Pegula before taking the final two sets.

Coco Gauff grand slams

Here’s a look at Coco Gauff’s best finishes at each of tennis’ grand slam events, as well as how she fared in the most recent edition of each tournament.

How old is Coco Gauff?

Coco Gauff turned 22 on March 13. She broke into the top 5 in the WTA rankings in 2022 when she was 18 and hasn’t dropped out of the top 10 since. Gauff has ended every season since then at No. 3 in the world, reaching as high as No. 2 after turning 20.

How tall is Coco Gauff?

Coco Gauff measures 5-foot-9, the average height for players on the WTA Tour. One of her idols, Serena Williams, also is listed at 5-foot-9, while current No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka, whom Gauff beat for both of her major championships so far, comes in at 5-foot-11.

Who are Coco Gauff’s parents?

Like many star athletes, Coco Gauff is from an athletic family. Her dad, Corey Gauff, played college basketball at Georgia State from 1990 to 1993. He was Coco’s first tennis coach, stepping down in 2023 to take on more of a support role. Her mom, Candi Gauff, was a track star at Florida State from 1988 to 1992 when she was Candi Odom. She was also the South Florida Sun Sentinel’s Athlete of the Year twice. She is now a teacher and home-schooled Coco.

Because her mom is a regular presence in Gauff’s box but her dad isn’t, there’s frequent speculation that the two are divorced. But Coco explained Corey’s absence during a postmatch interview at the 2026 Australian Open: “He can’t control his reaction.”

Who is Coco Gauff’s boyfriend?

Coco Gauff confirmed that she’s been dating musician Jalen Sera since 2023. She had previously kept her relationship with the 24-year-old under wraps to maintain privacy, saying only he was from Atlanta, he was not from the tennis world, and her mom was his fourth-grade teacher. People was among those who reported Gauff posting a Christmas photo of the two getting cozy together, but the photo is no longer included in Gauff’s gallery.
