FRIENDSHIP – Two people were arrested following a high-speed police pursuit in the town of Friendship June 28, according to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office.
At about 11:05 a.m., a deputy was parked on Lakeshore Drive near Shady Drive and observed a vehicle traveling southbound at 91 mph in a posted 50 mph zone, the department said in a news release. When the deputy attempted to make a traffic stop, the vehicle fled and turned into a driveway.
Soon, the deputy spotted the vehicle again, and the driver continued to increase speed and disregard the deputy’s emergency lights and sirens. He eventually stopped near the intersection of Lakeshore Drive and Franklin Avenue, and the deputy conducted a high-risk traffic stop, according to the release.
The driver, a 37-year-old Oshkosh man, was arrested. The department is requesting charges of operating while intoxicated, fleeing and eluding an officer, lewd and lascivious behavior, second-degree reckless endangering safety, felony bail jumping, misdemeanor bail jumping, and several other citations.
He also had two active warrants out of Winnebago County: a felony warrant for failure to appear on charges of operating a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent and resisting or obstructing an officer and a misdemeanor warrant for failure to appear on charges of lewd and lascivious behavior, criminal damage to property, and resisting or obstructing an officer.
He had a passenger, a 48-year-old Menasha woman, who was taken into custody and then released at the scene, according to the release.
The City of Fond du Lac Police Department assisted.
