Softball – Check out the final 2026 New York sportswriters' rankings

Section 9 champion Pine Bush finished runner-up in the state Class AAA softball rankings for the 2026 season.

The rankings were conducted by the New York State Sportswriter and Coaches Organization for Girls Sports (NYSSCOGS).

Pine Bush (20-4) lost to No. 1 ranked Lancaster (19-5) 4-3 in 12 innings in the AAA championship on June 13. Newburgh Free Academy ( 12-11) finished No. 19 and Section 1’s Roy C. Ketcham (13-6) was tied for No. 25.

In Class AA, Section 9 champ Minisink Valley (19-5) was picked No. 9 – the Warriors bowed in the state semifinals on June 12. Section runner-up Valley Central (17-4) was picked No. 17 and Goshen (16-5) tied for No. 25.

In Class A, sectional champ Marlboro (16-5) was picked No. 10 and sectional semifinalist Port Jervis (14-5) was No. 18.

In Class B, sectional champ Spackenkill (12-7) was picked No. 16 and Section 1’s Haldane (17-6) was picked No. 23.

In Class C, state semifinalist Pine Plains (19-3) was picked No. 3 and sectional runner-up John S. Burke Catholic (14-4) was picked No. 17.

In Class D, sectional champ Chapel Field (8-8) was chosen No. 13 and runner-up Eldred (12-5) was No. 19.
