Three hopefuls have their eyes on the Port St. Lucie City Council District 3 seat, hoping to win the spot of incumbent Anthony Bonna, who is not seeing reelection.
Fritz Masson Alexandre, Jim Norton and Peter Overhuls will face off in the Aug. 18 election. If none of the candidates receive more than 50% plus one vote, the top two candidates will go to a run-off in the Nov. 3 General Election.
Bonna, a Republican, is running for the state House District 85 seat now held by Toby Overdorf, who cannot run again due to terms limits.
The Nov. 3 election will select a mayor and commissioners for District 3, the most southwestern portion of the city, and District 1, which covers the northeastern and eastern portions of the city.
The four Port St. Lucie City Council members are elected to four-year terms in nonpartisan races. Eligible voters across the city can vote in any of the district races, but candidates must live in the district they’re running to represent. The mayor, who also is a council member, is elected citywide.
