Throughout the summer, the Houston Rockets have been linked to Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown, as rumors surfaced about a potential reunion between him and Rockets coach Ime Udoka.
However, although initial reports indicated interest, it appears as though the Rockets could be moving in another direction. According to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, Houston has been described as “not in the mix” for the five-time NBA All-Star and former NBA champion.
In the absence of Jayson Tatum last season, Brown had a career year, averaging 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, 5.1 assists and one steal. As a result, Brown made the All-NBA second team and finished sixth in NBA MVP voting. While Brown’s two-way talent is undeniable, he’d come at a hefty price. To complicate matters even further, the remaining three years and $183 million on his contract would be quite pricey to try and build around.
