Ty Gibbs and Carson Hocevar make up a slightly surprising front row for Sunday’s NASCAR race at Sonoma Raceway in California.
GIbbs’ pole time was 74.829 seconds around the 12-turn track that measures about two first-downs shy of two miles. That’s an average speed of 95.738 mph for Toyota driver.
Hocevar, Kyle Larson, Michael McDowell, Ross Chastain and defending Sonoma winner Shane van Gisbergen will make up the first three rows at the Sunday green flag.

Sunday’s race will be the first of five straight on TNT, following the five-race slice of the schedule broadcast on Amazon’s Prime Video. It’ll sound familiar, however, since the Prime booth announcers make the move with TNT: Adam Alexander, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Steve Letarte.
Sunday also marks the last of four road courses on the 2026 Cup schedule. After Sunday, eight races remain on the 26-race regular season, which ends Aug. 29 at Daytona and is followed by the new-look, 10-race Chase for the Championship.
