Former FSU baseball catcher transfers to SEC program

Former FSU catcher Hunter Carns has found his new home, committing to the Georgia Bulldogs on Friday.

Carns, who rotated between catcher and designated hitter for the Seminoles, started 49 games and appeared in 51 in 2026. He finished the year hitting .303 with six home runs, 11 doubles, and 32 RBI. While he improved from his freshman season, he did not take as big a step as expected and will have three seasons of eligibility in Athens. He is eligible for the 2026 MLB Draft. He was one of the top catchers in the 2024 recruiting class, and it was a major win for FSU to get him to Tallahassee.

Carns played in 40 games as a freshman in 2025, hitting .286 with six home runs, eight doubles, and 15 RBI. The 6-foot, 200-pounder finished with a .379 on-base percentage and a .481 slugging percentage in 133 at-bats.

Georgia went 53-14 last season, winning the SEC Regular-Season and Tournament Championship. They made it to the College World Series, where they lost to the Oklahoma Sooners twice.
