Craig Counsell. Jacob Misiorwoski. A clash with the Milwaukee Brewers’ top National League Central rival. And you’ll need Apple TV to see it.
Milwaukee’s series opener against Chicago on June 26 won’t air on Brewers.TV. Instead, it’ll be available exclusively on Apple TV as part of the service’s “Friday Night Baseball.”
If you want to watch from home as Misiorowski, the favorite for the National League Cy Young Award (8-3, 1.45 ERA, league-leading 138 strikeouts) takes on the Cubs at American Family Field for the first time this season, you’ll need to shell out extra.
Here’s what to know about watching the game:
Where can you watch the Cubs-Brewers game June 26?
The game is available exclusively on Apple TV, and it’s not one of those situations where the game airs on a typical channel in the Milwaukee (or any) market. If you want to see the game, you’ll need the service.
It’s a weird start time, too, listed at 6:45 p.m. CT.
How much is Apple TV?
There’s a seven-day free trial if you haven’t subscribed before. Otherwise, it’s $12.99 per month. At least you can also spend the next month watching “Widow’s Bay” too. Check out some frequently asked questions if you need to figure out the whole rigmarole of subscribing.
There’s some extra good news. You can also sign up for a one-month free trial in honor of their baseball slate. We just tried it and it worked, even though we’ve subscribed to the service before. We’re watching episode 1 of “Widow’s Bay” right now, in fact.

Do the Brewers play again on Apple?
Sure enough, their July 3 game against the Arizona Diamondbacks is also on Apple TV. So, if you get a month, you’ll be covered for the next game, too, and no other Brewers games appear on the Apple schedule. That’s subject to change, of course.
Are the Brewers on other streaming services in the near future?
Their July 1 game will air on ESPN, July 5 will be on the NBC Sports Network or Peacock, and July 12 will air likewise on NBCSN/Peacock. That’ll get you to the all-star break, at least. The rest of the games are scheduled for their usual spot on Brewers.TV.
Why do we have to do this? Can we be done with all the different streaming services?
Friend, this is still only the beginning of the streaming revolution. It’s not going to get any better from here. This is how MLB (and, by extension, the Brewers) makes the money to pay for the players, we guess.
Jacob Misiorowski is going to be pitching, too!
He’ll be wearing the same City Connect jersey he wore when he completely carved up the Philadelphia Phillies in his last home start, too.
Forget it. I’m going to the game
There’s something cool waiting for you at the ballpark if you do. The Brewers are opening their UW Credit Union Plaza beyond the wall in center field, an area that includes a beer garden, performance stage, playground and mini-golf course.
From the team release: “To celebrate the grand opening, fans are invited to enjoy a full weekend of special programming at the UW Credit Union Plaza. Friday, June 26, will feature live music from Wire & Nail, appearances by Brewers mascots and tailgate games ahead of the Brewers matchup with the Chicago Cubs. On Saturday, June 27, the plaza will host the Brewers.TV pre- and post-game show with Vinny Rottino, Craig Coshun and Tim Dillard. Sunday, June 28, will spotlight family-friendly activities including face painting, a balloon artist and live music from DJ 4MATIK. Offerings from local food trucks Chucho’s Red Tacos, K&L BBQ and Kona Ice will be available for purchase throughout the weekend.”
We are now watching “Widow’s Bay” and dreaming of barbecue.
