Jaguars trade up to pick Josh Cameron
In the sixth round of the 2026 NFL draft, the Jaguars traded picks 196 and 245 to New England to move up to pick 191 to select Cameron.
“That is the best Duval DNA and the second-best sentiment remaining on the board in Josh Cameron,” James Gladstone said.
What to know about Josh Cameron
Cameron spent five seasons at Baylor and was a big part of the passing game the last two seasons, totaling 177 targets. For his career, he caught 170 of his 261 targets, good for a catch rate of 65%, while averaging 13.1 yards per catch with 19 touchdowns — all of which occurred over the last two seasons. The bulk of his snaps have come lined up out wide.
At 220 pounds, Cameron did grade out well as a run-blocker last season by PFF’s metrics. Cameron was also a productive punt returner, with 45 career attempts, which includes averaging nearly 21 yards per return in 2024.
Looking ahead to the 2026 season for Josh Cameron
Late Day 3 picks like Josh Cameron are never quite guaranteed a roster spot, but Cameron’s performance during offseason programs has positioned him well to be a part of the 53-man.
“The physicality, the attacking, their play style shows up, run game, pass game, screen game, you name it. Individual drill shows up,” said OC Grant Udinski about Cameron and CJ Williams. “But both of those guys have been first and foremost great people to have in the locker room, in the classroom, diligent, the way they study, the way they prepare, the way they want to go out there and perform to our standard has been a real treat to be around.
“Now, they also add an element of strength and physicality. Both those guys are bigger receivers that can do things in the run game. And you see the catches that Josh is making downfield using that body, using his physical presence to help himself create separation.”
That said, with Brian Thomas Jr., Parker Washington, Jakobi Meyers, and Travis Hunter at the top of the depth chart, Cameron likely won’t see many opportunities on offense this season. The ability to help on special teams will be important for him.
