FSU needs to continue recruiting momentum by closing the week strong

Florida State has needed to improve its recruiting prowess for quite some time now. During the month of June, they’ve done extremely well when it comes to landing prospects.

The most impressive steak was from June 7-9, when they landed four-star recruits linebacker Jernard Albright, running back Jayden Miles, and wide receiver Sean Green, who are currently the three top-ranked commitments for FSU. The Seminoles have since added linebacker Olrick Johnson III, edge Jaxon Holly, wide receiver Majay Thompson, and linebacker CJ Ohuabunwa, who committed on Monday. They’re all three-star prospects.

That’s a very talented haul, but they have two more important targets to close this week. Four-star defensive lineman Sam LeJeune is set to make his decision at 6:30 p.m. ET on Wednesday. Florida State has been the favorite with four predictions to land the 6-foot-3, 280-pounder over the last couple of weeks, and they seemingly increased their lead during his official visit on June 12.

LeJeune would be the top prospect in the class if FSU seals the deal, which would also give them multiple blue-chip commitments in the trenches defensively, along with four-star edge Anthony Cavallaro. He’s a powerful player with a tremendous burst off the line of scrimmage and solid pass-rush ability that makes him a prime candidate to thrive on the interior in Tony White’s 3-3-5 scheme. They must land him.

On Thursday, three-star running back Marquis Fennell will be making his decision. The Seminoles also have a prediction to land him as well, and they have remained the leader down the stretch. He’s a dynamic playmaker who produced nearly 1,500 yards rushing and over 700 yards receiving as a junior, giving him the potential to be the type of duel-threat weapon head coach Mike Norvell and offensive coordinator Tim Harris Jr. need.

Landing Fennell, in addition to the aforementioned Miles, who has duel-threat ability himself, would have Florida State sitting lovely at running back next year with Ousmane Kromah and Amari Thomas, and even Sam Singleton Jr. if he returns for his redshirt senior season. Closing his recruitment is paramount as well.

Florida State has been doing a great job when it comes to closing recruits lately. They must continue that with LeJeune and Fennell.
