Dolphins will have to wait if they want controversial college QB

The Miami Dolphins signed former third-round pick Malik Willis to be their starting quarterback this offseason, but with Willis’ limited experience, there’s a strong chance that he’s not a long-term answer in South Florida.

With that risk, the Dolphins should be looking for other options to fulfill the role beyond 2026, and while Brendan Sorsby looked like he could’ve been an option for the team in the NFL Supplemental draft, Miami will have to wait a bit longer if they want to bring him in.

On Tuesday, the NFL announced that they won’t be holding a supplemental draft in 2026, citing a lack of supporting information and that the issues presented are “too significant and too closely tied to the League’s core integrity interests.”

Sorsby had been deemed ineligible to play by the NCAA due to his admission to a gambling addiction, which included bets placed on his own team. This leaves Sorsby unable to play in the NFL this year. In the meantime, he may be able to play in another league before the 2027 season.

For now, Miami is left with Malik Willis, Quinn Ewers, Cam Miller and Mark Gronowski to throw the ball when training camp starts up next month.
