Avelo Airlines will expand its passenger services with a new route at Lakeland Linder International Airport this fall.
Avelo will begin offering nonstop services between Lakeland Linder and Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, starting in mid-November. Flights will be offered twice a week, year-round to Rafael Hernandez International Airport (code BQN).
Currently, Polk residents would have to drive to Orlando’s MCO airport or Fort Lauderdale to get a direct flight to Aguadilla on a different airline. Besides Lakeland, the only other airport where Avelo offers flights to Aguadilla is New Haven, Connecticut.
“We’re excited to bring Lakeland-area travelers to an entirely new side of Puerto Rico with our new nonstop service to Aguadilla,” said Andrew Levy, Avelo’s founder and CEO. “From the ease and convenience of Lakeland Linder International Airport to our signature focus on affordability and reliability, this new route makes exploring the island simpler than ever. We’re proud to give our Central Florida customers a stress-free, budget-friendly way to reach stunning beaches, rich heritage, and unforgettable experiences on Puerto Rico’s west coast.”
The low-budget carrier’s website shows the first flight from Lakeland Linder to Aguadilla is scheduled for Nov. 18. Service will be offered on Wednesdays and Saturdays, with ticket prices starting at $70 one-way for Avelo plus members, $100 standard pricing.
Tickets are immediately available for purchase through March 2027 on aveloair.com.
“Avelo continues to listen to our community and respond with opportunities that matter,” said Adam Lunn, LAL’s interim director. “Flights to San Jose, Puerto Rico have consistently been some of the most popular flights on Avelo and we are excited to expand our service to Aguadilla.”
Aguadilla is located on Puerto Rico’s northwest tip and is home to Playa Crash Boat, a beach known for its crystal-clear turquoise water and vibrant piers. It is also home to the the historic Punta Borinquen Golf Club, an 18-hole course perched on an ocean promontory renowned for its sunset views.
Where else does Avelo fly to from Lakeland?
The additional route between Lakeland Linder and Aguadilla brings the total routes from Lakeland to 10, including San Juan, Puerto Rico.
