The newest member of the Golden State Warriors is Yaxel Lendeborg. With the No. 11 overall pick, Mike Dunleavy Jr. and the Warriors selected the Michigan star wing in the first round.
Lendeborg has been a name linked to the Warriors throughout the draft process, a popular name in mock drafts that recently made the trip to the Bay Area for a pre-draft workout. Now, after winning a championship with the Michigan Wolverines in early April, Lendeborg will suit up alongside Steph Curry in Golden State.
On the way to being named a consensus All-American, Lendeborg played 40 games at Michigan, averaging 15.1 points on 51.5% shooting from the field with 6.8 boards, 3.2 assists, 1.2 blocks and 1.1 steals per game. Along with winning the title and being named an All-American, Lendeborg racked up the honors in his final season of college basketball, also earning the Big 10 Player of the Year award.
Prior to his time with Dusty May at Michigan, Lendeborg played two seasons at UAB. During the 2024-25 season, Lendeborg led the Blazers in every major statistical category. Leading UAB in points, rebounds, assists, blocks and steals. Eventual No. 1 pick Cooper Flagg was the only other player to lead his team in every statistical category that season.
Before two seasons at UAB, Lendeborg played three seasons at the junior college level. At Arizona Western College, Lendeborg was a two-time NJCAA All-American and became the NJCAA all-time leading rebounder.
Lendeborg will slide into the Warriors’ rotation at the wing position, giving them a flexible plus defender that can guard multiple positions, a willing playmaker on offense and a tenacious rebounder.
