The Texas Longhorns are looking to keep their momentum going in the 2027 recruiting cycle. One player they’re in hot pursuit of is four-star running back Landen Williams-Callis out of Richmond, Texas.
They were able to get him on campus for his final official visit over the weekend. Although Texas A&M, SMU, and Houston are making strong pushes as well, Sam Spiegelman of Rivals believes Williams-Callis is trending for the Longhorns.
I am moving closer to moving my prediction from the Aggies to the Longhorns for Williams-Callis. If a decision were made today, I believe Texas would be the choice. After returning to Austin a second time this offseason, sources believe Williams-Callis was bullish about his fit alongside Derrek Cooper in the Horns’ backfield. A decision is expected to be locked in during July or by August, before his senior season gets underway. – Sam Spiegelman, Rivals
This would be a huge get for Texas, especially after already landing four-star running back Noah Roberts last month. Williams-Callis is coming off one of the best seasons in Texas High School football history. He ran for 3,502 yards and scored 59 touchdowns. Williams-Callis also caught 24 passes for 266 yards and added four more scores.
Time will tell where Williams-Callis will end up. However, after this latest development, Texas needs to keep their foot on the gas until his decision date.
Williams-Callis is the nation’s No. 47 overall recruit and the No. 3 running back per Rivals industry rankings. In the state of Texas, he’s the No. 6 prospect.
