A Ventura police K-9 helped with an arrest and the seizure of 50 pounds of methamphetamine in an industrial area of the city June 22.
The Ventura Police Department received a call about a person in a black car with a rifle around 10:45 a.m. in the 3100 block of Seaborg Avenue, according to a news release. Officers arrived and pulled over the vehicle driven by a 47-year-old Port Hueneme man. The street is off Olivas Park Drive across from the city golf course.
Ventura police said that while officers spoke to the driver, K-9 Torque alerted police to the presence of drugs. Officers said they found the methamphetamine as well as cash, items believed to be used for drug sales and a pellet rifle.
The man was arrested and booked into Ventura County jail on suspicion of felony possession for sale of a controlled substance. He is being held on $500,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in Ventura County Superior Court in June 24, according to jail records.
