Zamarii Sanders dominates New Balance Nationals with 100m, 200m wins

“The Fastest Man in Florida” returned to the top of the national sprinting scene just weeks before beginning his collegiate track and field career.

Former Cardinal Newman star Zamarii Sanders swept the 100 and 200-meter sprints at the New Balance Outdoor Nationals this weekend in Philadelphia, marking the second consecutive year he has won both races at the elite, invitation-only meet.

The University of Tennessee track signee entered the national meet looking to get back on track after his lone defeat of the 2026 season.

Sanders took third place in the 100m at the FHSAA Class 1A meet in Jacksonville, his lone loss in 14 total races this season. He did not compete in the 200m, leaving the decorated sprinter without a Florida state title in his senior season.

Sanders closed his legendary varsity career as a five-time individual FHSAA state champion in the 100m, 200m and 4×100-meter relay events. In 2025, he was also a member of Cardinal Newman’s first-ever FHSAA team state title in boys track and field.
