RICHMOND, IN — A Richmond man stands accused of robbing employees at two local businesses.
Jordan D. Jarrett, 32, was charged on Thursday, June 18, in Wayne Circuit Court with armed robbery, robbery, criminal confinement and two counts of intimidation.
The armed robbery and criminal confinement charges are Level 3 felonies carrying up to 16 years in prison.
According to Richmond police, Jarrett robbed clerks at the Clark gas station, 1201 N. E St., on Sunday, June 14, and the Milkhouse, 1700 E. Main St., on the following day.
During the first holdup, Jarrett reportedly was wearing a black face mask and threatened a clerk, telling her he had a gun.
He allegedly told that victim her refusal at first to give him access to a cash register “ain’t worth your life.”
At the second robbery, the Richmond man reportedly held a handgun to a victim’s head when he demanded she open a register.
A Richmond police officer recognized Jarrett in a surveillance recording from one of the crime scenes.
Although Jarrett reportedly maintained he had a BB gun at the second store, an affidavit indicated he was armed with a black semi-automatic handgun.
According to the court document, Jarrett at first denied any role in either holdup, but he later acknowledged he was involved. The Richmond man told a deputy he was addicted to meth.
He was being held in the Wayne County Jail under a $125,000 cash bond. A trial date has not yet been set.
Wayne County Prosecutor Michael Shipman’s office filed documents seeking to have Jarrett declared a habitual offender.
Court records indicated he has been convicted of child molesting, robbery and battery.
