The 2026 high school baseball season in Greater Cincinnati was full of excitement this season with a lot of outstanding teams and players.
The season ended with St. Xavier and Badin winning their first state championships in a long time, and five other teams reaching the state tournament.
To put a final cap on the season, here are The Enquirer’s all-city teams for each division in Ohio, plus Northern Kentucky and Southeast Indiana.
Cincinnati Enquirer’s 2026 Division I all-city baseball team
Co-players of the year
Conner Cuozzo, Moeller: The senior Kent State commit helped the Crusaders to a 25-7 record, Greater Catholic League-South championship and Division I state runner-up. He was named first team all-city by the coaches association and first-team all-league after batting .392 with four home runs, 13 doubles, four triples, 36 runs batted in and 27 runs scored. He ended his stellar career by setting the school career record for RBIs with 105. He also had 106 hits and 18 home runs.
Wil Kraus, Oak Hills: The senior Wright State commit was one of the city’s best power hitters and shortstops. He hit .448 with 10 home rums and 50 runs scored, and was co-player of the year in the district, leading the Highlanders to a 23-8 record and the regional finals.
Jack Ryan, St. Xavier: The senior Boston College commit led the Bombers to the Division I state championship, their first since 2003. On the mound, he was 8-2 with a 1.54 ERA and 67 strikeouts in 59 innings. He saved his best for last, throwing a no-hitter against Elder in the regional semifinals, and a three-hit shutout against highly ranked Olentangy Orange in the state semifinals. He graduates with 22 career wins in four seasons. At the plate, he hit .455 with 27 RBIs, 25 runs scored, three home runs and eight doubles. He leaves with 126 career hits and 70 RBIs. Ryan is co-player of the year in the city and was GCL-South player of the year.
Co-pitchers of the year
Ryan Murphy, Oak Hills: The junior Cincinnati commit was 12-0 with a 1.06 ERA and 107 strikeouts in 73 innings, leading the Highlanders to a 23-8 record and the regional finals.
Nathan McDowell, Moeller: The junior Notre Dame commit was 10-1 with a 1.15 ERA, striking out 88 in 61 innings. He threw two no-hitters during the season and shut out Grove City in the regional semifinals.
Coach of the year
Don DiGiacomo, St. Xavier: He led the Bombers to a 28-5 record, with four of the losses coming in the GCL-South and their first state championship since 2003.

Player of the Year
Blake Carrigan, Loveland: The senior hit .376 with five home runs, 20 RBIs and a team-high 27 runs scored, leading the Tigers to a 20-9 record and the regional semifinals.
Pitcher of the Year
Drew Oerther, Loveland: The senior Kent State commit was 5-1 with a 1.41 ERA and 64 strikeouts in 35 innings, leading the Tigers to a 20-9 record and the regional semifinals.
Coach of the Year
Ben Toerner, Harrison: He led the Wildcats to the state semifinals after going 10-10 in the regular season against a tough schedule and winning four tight postseason games in a row to get to the state tournament.

Co-players of the year
Mac Reed, Turpin: The senior shortstop led the Spartans to 19-7 record and the Eastern Cincinnati Conference championship as the ECC Offensive Player of the Year. He hit .506 with four homers, 17 extra-base hits, 30 runs scored, 24 RBIs and 25 steals. He was also the district player of the year.
Chandler Taylor, Badin: The senior University of Alabama commit led the Rams to a 29-3 record and the state championship. He hit .444 with three homers, 17 extra-base hits, 32 RBIs and 26 runs scored while playing center field.
Pitcher of the year
Caleb Driessen, Badin: The senior Miami RedHawks commit led the Rams to a 29-3 record and the state championship. He was 8-1 with a 1.07 ERA and 74 strikeouts in 59 innings, allowing 40 hits and only eight walks. He was at his best in the postseason, throwing a three-hit shutout against Vandalia Butler in the regional final and allowing two runs on seven hits in the state semifinals. In three postseason starts, he allowed three runs in 20 innings on 13 hits while striking out 26. Driessen graduates with a 23-4 career record, 11 shutouts and a 1.00 ERA.
Co-coaches of the year
Don Gullett Jr., Turpin: He led the Spartans to a 19-7 record and their first Eastern Cincinnati Conference championship in five years. He was ECC coach of the year and district co-coach of the year.
Brion Treadway, Badin: He led the Rams to a 29-3 record and their first state championship in 30 years. Badin won its last 25 games, outscoring teams by a total of 267-58, including 100-4 in league play to win the Greater Catholic League-Coed.

Co-players of the year
Devlan Daniel, Indian Hill: The junior led the Braves to a 21-5 record and the Cincinnati Hills League championship. He hit .436 with four home runs, 14 extra-base hits, 20 RBIs and 35 runs scored while playing shortstop. On the mound, the Mississippi State commit was 2-1 with a 1.05 ERA and 44 strikeouts in 27 innings.
Carter Shouse, Fenwick: The sophomore helped the Falcons finish 23-9 and Division IV state runners-up. He hit .350 with five home runs, 21 RBIs and 31 runs scored. On the mound, he was 5-3 with a 1.40 ERA and 90 strikeouts in 45 innings. He was first-team All-Greater Catholic League-Coed.
Pitcher of the year
Kyle Miller, Roger Bacon: The senior led the Spartans to a 21-9 record and the regional finals. He was 8-1 with a 0.90 ERA and 87 strikeouts in 62 innings. In the postseason, he threw a three-hit shutout against Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy in the district tournament and a four-hit complete game with 12 strikeouts and one run allowed against Tipp City Bethel in the regional semifinals. He was Miami Valley Conference-Scarlet Pitcher of the Year.
Coach of the Year
Doc Wieland, Fenwick: He led the Falcons to a 23-9 record, their first regional championship since 1982 and state runner-up.

Division V player of the year
Grayson Houchin, Summit Country Day: The senior led the Silver Knights to a 24-7 record and the regional semifinals. He hit .483 with three home runs, 29 RBIs, 34 runs scored and steals. On the mound, he was the MVC-Scarlet pitcher of the year after going 7-1 with a 0.88 ERA and 72 strikeouts in 48 innings. In the postseason, he threw a one-hit shutout against Norwood in the district tournament, striking out 13. In the district final, he threw a four-hitter against Anna, allowing one unearned run.
Division V coach of the year
Andy Poli, Summit Country Day: He led the Silver Knights to a 24-7 record and the regional semifinals, becoming the program’s all-time winningest coach late in the season.
Cincinnati Enquirer’s 2026 Division VI player of the year
Max Simon, Miami Valley Christian Academy: He led the Lions to a 17-9 record, the Miami Valley Conference-Gray championship and the regional semifinals. He was MVC-Gray player of the year after hitting .422 with 15 extra-base hits, 37 RBIs and 30 runs scored. He was also the team’s best pitcher, going 5-2 with a 3.53 ERA in 43.2 innings.
Cincinnati Enquirer’s 2026 Division VI coach of the year
Randy Russell, Miami Valley Christian Academy: He led the Lions to a 17-9 record, the MVC-Gray championship and the regional semifinals.
Cincinnati Enquirer’s 2026 Division VII player of the year
Tyler Short, Fayetteville-Perry: The senior led the team with a .328 average and also had 22 runs scored. In the postseason, he threw a one-hit shutout against New Miami with 16 strikeouts in the district tournament, and had a double, home run and three RBIs against Middletown Christian in the district semis.
Cincinnati Enquirer’s 2026 Division VII coach of the year
Tony Aponte, New Miami: He led the Vikings to a 12-9 record and the Miami Valley Conference-White championship, their first league title in nine years.

Northern Kentucky/Southeast Indiana
Cincinnati Enquirer’s 2026 Northern Kentucky/Indiana player of the year
Tyler Fryman, Beechwood: The junior was named the Northern Kentucky Athletic Conference Division II and Ninth Region player of the year. The University of Louisville commit helped lead Beechwood to its fifth regional title in seven seasons and a trip to the state tournament. Fryman hit .514 with 62 runs scored, 52 RBI, 36 extra-base hits (including 12 home runs) and stole 39 bases. He was first-team all-state.
Cincinnati Enquirer’s 2026 Northern Kentucky/Indiana pitcher of the year
Tyler Schumacher, Campbell County: The senior compiled a 9-1 record with a 1.02 ERA and 116 strikeouts in 68 innings. He was at his best in the postseason, pitching complete-game two-hit shutouts in the 37th District final and 10th Region semifinals, and allowing one run with two outs in the seventh in the first round of the state tournament. In 21 innings, he allowed 10 hits and struck out 32. The Marshall University commit was also one of Kentucky’s best hitters, batting .512 with seven homers, 38 RBIs, 24 extra-base hits and 59 runs scored. He was first-team all-state.
Cincinnati Enquirer’s 2026 Northern Kentucky/Indiana coach of the year
Kevin Gray, Beechwood: He led the Tigers to a 33-10 record, their fifth Ninth Region championship in seven seasons and the state quarterfinals. They were also All “A” Classic state runner-up.
