Springfield man found dead at construction site, autopsy scheduled

SPRINGFIELD – A Springfield man was found dead near a construction site on the morning of June 18.

The 66-year-old man has not been identified to the public, pending notification to the man’s family, according to a news release from the Sangamon County Coroner, Jim Allmon.

The man was found near a construction site in the 1000 block of North Grand Avenue East. He was pronounced dead at the construction site around 8:15 a.m.

An autopsy is scheduled to take place June 18.

The death remains under investigation by the Sangamon County Coroner and the Springfield Police Department.
