Summit Country Day senior Mia Stevens has been named the Ohio girls soccer Gatorade Player of the Year.
An Ohio State University signee, Stevens scored 34 goals, including 10 game-winners, and registered 18 assists to lead the Silver Knights to a 22-0-2 record and their third straight state championship.
“Mia Stevens is a special player. There are plenty of great strikers, outstanding playmakers and dominating defenders. The piece that separates Mia is her complete game, where she fits all categories. No matter the team or division, Mia would have been the star. The final complement was her ability to blend and support other players on Summit’s team. She was the star who played her best in the big games, but led and helped bring the other players to another level,” Cincinnati Country Day coach Theresa Hirschauer said in a press release.
For the second straight season, Stevens was named the Ohio Division IV Player of the Year and a United Soccer Coaches All-American. She is Summit Country Day’s all-time leader in games played (93), goals (72), assists (42) and points (186).
She is the first girl from Summit Country Day to be named the Gatorade POY and the first girl fom Cincinnati to win it since Mount Notre Dame’s Peyton Kohls claimed the award in the 2021-2022 school year.
Additional winners from Cincinnati include McAuley’s Danielle Borgman (1997), Ross’ Kayla Lockaby (1998), St. Ursula’s Angela Napolitano (2005) and Elizabeth Burchenal (2008 and 2009), Badin’s Malia Berkely (2014 and 2015), Indian Hill’s Anna Podojil (2017 and 2018) and Lakota West’s Kailyn Dudukovich (2019).
